How to donate
Email any of us and say what you have and where you are. We'll agree on a time and place. If you're outside Sudbury or Lincoln, contact the WCE, who may mail you a free prepaid UPS label instead.
Email usWhat we can take
- Laptops, 10 years old or less
- Phones and tablets, 5 years old or less
- Chargers, power adapters and cables that go with them
- ONLY devices that still power on and run
What we can't take
- Cracked screens, water damage or a dead board
- Anything that will not turn on
- Printers, cameras, other devices not listed above
- Devices locked to an Apple or Google account
Rules do change. Check WCE's current list
Before you hand it over
Sign out
Remove your Apple ID or Google account so the activation lock releases. A locked device can't be refurbished, only recycled.
Bring the charger
If you still have the power adapter, send it along. Chargers are harder to replace than the machines are.
Your data
WCE erases every storage drive with industry-leading software and records a certificate of data destruction in each device's digital product passport. You do not need to wipe anything first. If you would rather, they recommend KillDisk, which is free.
taxes taxes taxes!
The World Computer Exchange is a 501(c)(3) and states it will provide a charitable tax receipt for qualifying donations. That side is handled by them, not by us — contact them directly if you need one.
